Cargo Handling Centre – Beaujolais Run!

In just 19.5 hours, a total of 363,511 kilos – 105 aircraft pallets and two containers of Beaujolais Nouveax arrived at Robin Hood Airport, was unloaded on the apron by Servisair Globeground, collected by CHC and loaded onto 27 x 40ft trucks for onward delivery for British Airways.

Commented Jean Parsons – Head of Aviation Business Development for CHC who operate the cargo transit shed facility at Robin Hood, this was a superb example of good team work between the airport, Servisair and ourselves with lots of pre-planning involved. This was a major challenge and everyone rose to the occasion. CHC staff who are all employed locally were full of enthusiasm for the project – the first time that such a prestigious aircraft has been into DSA. Having cut our teeth so to speak with 6 DC8 freighters in August this year, we felt that we could meet the challenge. We only have a small team here at DSA but everyone wanted to help in any way they could and although we were all exhausted at the end it was such a rewarding experience.

We hope that this will demonstrate the capability and potential of Robin Hood and its service partners to other operators.
